Armenian financial mediator gets more public trust

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Financial System Mediator of Armenia Piruz Sargsyan said on March 15, World Consumer Rights Day that Armenian consumers are increasingly trusting the financial mediator.

388 claims were lodged in 2009 and 642 in 2010, with as many as 803 received in 2011.

During the first two months of 2012, the office of the financial mediator received about 200 claims from citizens against financial organizations.

“This means that customers realize today that they can protect their rights by addressing us, and they don’t have to pay anything for that,” she told a press conference in Yerevan.

Sargsyan informed that about 70% of cases were ruled out in favour of the plaintiffs, with compensation amounting to AMD 58 mln in 2011, against AMD 29 mln and AMD 26 mln in 2010 and 2009 respectively.
