6 Armenians Killed in Russia in 2006

PanARMENIAN.Net - The killings of Armenians in Russia do not bear purposeful anti-Armenian nature, President of the Union of Armenians of Russia Ara Abrahamyan said in Yerevan. "Armenians like representatives of other nationalities are killed through xenophobia and ethno-racism reigning in Russia now. 6 Armenians were killed in Russia in 2006. The number of those killed among representatives of other nationalities is much bigger," Abrahamyan said.



In his words, the UAR closely watches the developments and brings to the notion of the publics the information on the crimes against the people of Armenian origin. This year we have held about 500 events including lectures on Armenia in Russian schools and institutes as well as meetings with the government members, law enforcers and reporters," he remarked.



He also said that Russia at the state level contributes to revelation of the cases of assaults through xenophobia. "President Putin pay attention to the measures for prevention and disclosing of such crimes," he resumed, reports newsarmenia.ru.
