Yerevan expects practical steps from Ankara to normalize relationsJuly 3, 2009 - 14:17 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Official Yerevan expects practical steps from Ankara in the process of normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations, Edward Nalbandian told a joint press conference with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis. "Armenia and Turkey reached accord about establishing relations and opening borders without preconditions. If Ankara is ready to implement reached agreements, we can only hail that and expect practical steps from Turkey," Edward Nalbandian said. According to Edward Nalbandian, not only a dialog take place between Yerevan and Ankara, but the two sides hold serious talks, which entered a new phase in September, 2008. As Edward Nalbandian recalled, Turkey previously involved pre-conditions to establish relations and open borders with Armenia. Those pre-conditions related to the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and international recognition of the Armenian Genocide. The Ra foreign minister informed, that in the process of negotiations the two sides have reached an accord: to settle relations without preconditions. Ruben Safrastyan further stressed the need for Armenia to continue developing ties with Iran in all possible scenarios. Republican Party of Armenia, Orinats Yerkir and Heritage opposition party have become members of European People's Party. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met with Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Nikolai Patrushev.
