Statement of Armenian parliament is demarche against Turkey and international community

PanARMENIAN.Net - Director of Caucasus Institute, political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan said that the statement by the Armenian ruling coalition can be viewed as a demarche both against Turkey and against the international community.

“Armenia clearly suggested that the Armenian-Turkish normalization cannot remain in the current state for a long time,” Mr. Iskandaryan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. “The problem will remain unresolved until parliamentary elections take place in Turkey in 2011,” he said.

Besides, Mr. Iskandaryan believes that in his address the Armenian President will voice all the provisions that were included in the statement by parliamentary groups.

“As Turkey refrains from ratifying the Protocols without any preconditions within reasonable terms, the ratification of Protocols by the Armenian National Assembly becomes senseless. In our opinion, the process should be frozen and the discussion of these documents should be withdrawn from the parliament’s agenda, until Turkey agrees to continue the process without preconditions,” reads the statement issued by the political majority of the RA National Assembly.
