ANC coordinator: a 200 000-strong rally will force the President to resign

PanARMENIAN.Net - A 200 000-strong rally will force the President to resign and announce extraordinary elections, Armenian National Congress (ANC) coordinator stated.

“I’m certain, the regime will simply flee away, once a crowd of 200 000 goes out into the streets,” Levon Zurabyan stated. At the same time, he added that ANC supports the gradual change of power, allowing to avoid bloodshed and clashes.

The ANC coordinator refuted media reports alleging the possibility of a deal struck between the Congress and the authorities. As he pointed out, government-controlled media are trying to convince people that the political crisis has been resolved and a dialogue with the opposition was initiated. “We’ll only start a dialogue to resolve the problems of the people, rather than those of the authorities,” he stressed.

As Zurabyan noted, the authorities consider granting permission to hold rallies in Liberty Square to be a strategic concession, and hope to overcome the wave of people’s discontent through delaying the fulfillment of demands.
