Amateurs deal with politics in Armenia, architect says

PanARMENIAN.Net - Director of Yerevan National Aesthetics Center, architect Levon Igityan stands “for incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan and against Armenian National Congress leader Levon Ter-Petrossian.”

“I am against people who undermine the statehood for their own ambitions. I stand for people who use their wide experience to promote state interests, like President Sargsyan,” Igityan told a press conference, adding that he believes his non-engagement in politics to be an advantage.

“Amateurs deal with politics in Armenia,” he said

Igityan also praised the activity of second President Robert Kocharian. “When Kocharian assumed the office, Armenia was destroyed. He worked hard to drive the country out of the deadlock,” he said.

Asked about Kocharian’s responsibility for the March 1, 2008 events, Igityan advised to remember “who provoked the tragedy.”

The protests of the Armenian opposition led by first President Levon Ter-Petrossian resulted in disorders that claimed lives of 10 people in spring 2008.
