Schroeder: EU Should Support Turkey

PanARMENIAN.Net - Gerhard Schroeder, former German Chancellor, said that the European Union ought to support Turkey in its march towards EU membership. The Turkish government is rightly asking for fair treatment over the Cyprus question, said Schroeder, and added that a fair approach to the issue would sort things out. "Turkey projects political stability all the way through Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan. Turkey could set an example for countries across the region. That's why Turkey should get support from the European Union in its progress towards achievement of its goals. Turkey is not in a position to beg for membership to the European Union," said Schroeder, reports zaman.com.
