Ago Group confirmed CoE assessment of Armenian parliamentary election

PanARMENIAN.Net - During a meeting with Ago Group head Per Sjogren we focused on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process, Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian said at a joint news conference in Yerevan.



Armenia's fulfillment of commitments to the CoE, the recent parliamentary elections and situation with freedom of speech were as well discussed, the Minister said.



Mr Sjogren confirmed the assessment given by the CoE to the May 12 parliamentary elections and voiced hope that the presidential elections in 2008 will demonstrate an advance.



The Swedish diplomat noted that the main purpose of the visit is to discuss measures for formation of independent juridical system. "Independent juridical system is an important condition for Armenia's further democratization. After the adoption of the reviewed Constitution the separation of the juridical power from the legislative and executive became possible," he said



A school for exchange of experience between the Armenian and European courts will be established in Brussels, he added.
