Negotiations on cable laying from Turkey to Armenia suspended

PanARMENIAN.Net - No negotiations are conducted on the topic of restarting cable-laying works from Turkey to Armenia at the moment. As ArmentTel's spokesperson Anush Bagloyan told a PanARMENIAN.net reporter, the agreement reached with the Turkish Telecom on constructing the optical highway to provide Armenia with alternative communication source, has been suspended for indefinite time. According to Anush Begloyan, particularly, the talks were dragged out by the Turkish company.

At the same time, negotiations with the Turkish side enabled the Armenian telecommunication company to bring to a new level the relationship with partners who provide Internet channels via Georgia, she said.

"We conducted effective negotiations with partner companies resulted in renting four additional channels, which enable to greatly increase the data throughput of our network," stressed Ms. Begloyan.

"In respect to further negotiations with Turkish operator, at this moment they are suspended and we don't see necessity to speed them up in terms of business. If Turkish side makes new suggestions, we will discuss them and make a decision, taking into account our users' interests," she said.
