Vahan Kerobyan: opening of Armenian-Turkish to urge RA economy development

PanARMENIAN.Net - Opening of the Armenian-Turkish border will make Armenia less dependent on regional geopolitical situation, according to Vahan Kerobyan, executive director of Star supermarket network.



"We should not be afraid of opening of the border with Turkey. It will enliven our country's trade turnover and make our economy more diversified and competitive," Mr. Kerobyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.



"Turkey is Armenia's most developed neighbor whishing to join the European family. Opening of the border will help cut transport expenses by 20%," he said, adding that Turkey is a country with comprehensive facilities.



As to reports on opening of a Star supermarket in Kars, Mr. Kerobyan said he doesn't exclude such a possibility theoretically. "Actually, our goal is to maintain leading positions in retail," he said.
