Prosperous Armenia candidate hopes for fair election

PanARMENIAN.Net - Mayor nominee from Prosperous Armenia Party, Healthcare Minister Harutyun Kushkyan performed his civil duty at 10/29 polling station this morning.



"I hope, we will hold a fair and transparent election this time. I will spend this day in our party's headquarters," he said, adding that no violations have been reported yet.



Yerevan holds elections to the city council today. Polling stations opened at 8 am (GMT+4) and will close at 8 pm (GMT+4). Residents of the Armenian capital will elect parties which will share 65 mandates of the city council.



700 empowered persons from 6 parties and one bloc, 6000 local and 15 international observers are watching the process.



The number of voters totals 771 477. In all, 790 000 ballot papers were printed. The Central Electoral Committee will furnish data on the election process every 3 hours.



The following parties are running: Republic Party of Armenia (acting Mayor Gagik Beglaryan), Prosperous Armenia party (Healthcare Minister Harutyun Kushkyan), Orinats Yerkir party (MP Heghine Bisharyan, Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (MP Artsvik Minasyan), People's Party (Tigran Karapetyan), Labor Socialist Party (Movses Shahverdyan), Armenian National Congress (RA first President Levon Ter-Petrosyan).
