Oskanyan does not envy future signatories to Armenian-Turkish ProtocolsSeptember 22, 2009 - 20:07 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia is today in the run-up to signing a document which will determine its position on global level. Publicized Protocols on normalization of Armenian-Turkish ties cannot be signed, ex-Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan announced today in Yerevan, during a discussion devoted to Armenian-Turkish relations. "I'd have never taken such chances and promulgate a document unacceptable to Armenian society. I do not envy those who are going to sign the Protocols," Oskanyan said. "During my 10 years' tenure as Armenia's Foreign Minister, I didn't introduce to society any document on Karabakh. It would be against my conscience to promulgate a document unacceptable to Armenian people," he added. If Armenia eventually ratifies and signs Protocols, it will be very difficult for next administration to renounce them. "We are now required to seriously consider our future plans. Armenia as a sovereign state is in the run-up to signing the most serious document," ex-Foreign Minister said.
