While the noise around the ecologic consequences of the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline has not yet calmed down, in Azerbaijan they have already started to think, how to spend the money saved from the transportation of the natural gas to Turkey via the same route. Meanwhile, the facts come to prove that Azerbaijan has a lack of natural gas even for its own needs. The volumes of gas production continue to decline, and the prime cost for one cubic meter of gas continues to increase, making its transportation senseless.
