The political week in Armenia started with congresses of the Armenian National Movement and Armenakan Ramkavar-Azatakan party. On July 17, Yerevan hosted the 16th congress of the Armenian National Movement. In his remarks, Armenia's first President Levon Ter-Petrosyan said that Armenia’s economic development is impossible without resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and normalization of relations with Turkey. Court of Justice put the right of nations to self-determination above the principle of territorial integrity

Very soon we will be faced with yet another application of double standards. It’s about the former Soviet autonomies, which inspired by the decision of the Court, will require recognition of their independence too.

July 23, 2010
On July 22 the International Court of Justice (ICJ) confirmed that proclamation of Kosovo’s independence did not contradict international laws. And although the court’s decision is not mandatory, it finally put an end to the issue of the former colonies’ right to independence. It is quite likely that after the decision of the ICJ many states, which considered Kosovo part of Serbia, will recognize its independence. One could even say that the two-year fight of Kosovars for their rights produced the logical result.

Armenia, cradle of Indo-European civilization
In the study of ancient civilizations Armenia often remained on the sidelines, as if she had not been involved in major historical turnovers. The researchers’ interest was almost always confined to the territory of ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt. But, naturally the “factor” of Armenia could not be excluded in the formation of ancient civilizations. There is much evidence to prove it. Nevertheless, for one reason or another Armenia, yet, was left out from the list of possible leaders.

Karabakh war. The story of a patriot

There is nothing higher than let your enemy know that you can remain a human being even in the battle field.

Karabakh war. The story of a patriot
The 1988 events in Sumgait, Azerbaijan, shocked the entire Armenianhood. Dozens of people were slaughtered, majority of them after tortures and severe beatings. Over 200 apartments were robbed and burnt. Thousands of refugees remained homeless. This year changed the lives of many people. 27-year-old Manvel Yeghiazaryan was not an exception…
