Aerial cableway to Tatev monastery to cost 6.8 million euro

PanARMENIAN.Net - The program for reconstruction of Tatev monastery is one of the projects which were approved by the National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia (NCFA) and appears as a good example of cooperation between the private sector and state, RA Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan said.

"The result is the construction of the aerial cableway," he said.

For his part, NCFA director general Bekor Papazyan said the construction of the cableway has three constituents: marketing, creation of new tourist products and solution to infrastructure problems.

Garaventa representative Peter Bauman said the company implements projects of the kind according to latest security rules. The construction will be finished in a year. The cableway is expected to carry 25 passengers in each direction. It will be the longest in the world, stretching for 5.7 km. The cost of the project is 6.8 million euro.

Garaventa Lift is a large international company specializing in the manufacturing of accessibility products.

Ruben and Veronica Vardanyans' friends foundation, Armenia 2020 program and ARGA foundation will invest some $20 million in the project.
