Iran does not hurry to publish amount of investments to be made in Iran-Armenia railroad construction

PanARMENIAN.Net - Chairman of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines Mohammad Nahavandian said that Iranian companies are interested in implementation of the project on Iran-Armenia railroad construction.

It is still early to voice the amount of investments, which the Iranian side is going to make in the project, Mohammad Nahavandian told the October 1 joint press conference with Chairman of the Armenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Martin Sargsyan in Yerevan.

“A special working group will make the calculations, after which we will present the results,” he said. According to agreements reached between Armenia and Iran, Iran will cover construction of the railroad section up to Meghri. Moreover, Iran is ready to finance 30% of construction works on Armenia’s territory as well.

Nahavandian stressed that the two countries need to intensify implementation of investment programs in infrastructure projects, including road construction and energy. “Construction of a hydropower plant in Meghri, as well as of power transmission lines will start soon,” he said.

The Iranian delegation is in Armenia on a two-day visit, as part of which it met with Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, as well as had official and working meetings in the Armenian National Assembly and Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
