14.5% growth recorded in Armenia’s business activity indexDecember 20, 2010 - 19:24 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - According to a research conducted among organizations in the fields of industry, construction and services, as well as among 1,814 households in Armenia, the business activity index grew by 14.5% in the fourth quarter of 2010 compared to the same period in 2009, while 27% drop was recorded in the index compared to the third quarter of 2010. The indices are conditioned by low expectations of the first quarters in 2010 and 2011, the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia reported. Salaries and number of employees at industrial enterprises will remain unchanged in the next quarter. Growth in prices and production capacities are expected. The business environment index decreased by 5% in the fourth quarter compared to the third quarter of 2010, while 7.7% increase was recorded in the index compared to the same period in 2009. 8% growth was recorded in the consumer confidence index compared to the fourth quarter of 2009.
