Expert: gas prices lower in Armenia compared to other countriesApril 11, 2011 - 16:21 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Doctor of Economics Ashot Tavadyan said prices for gas are lower in Armenia compared to other countries. “Thus, prevention of its growth should be considered rather than its decrease,” Tavadyan told a press conference in Yerevan in his comments on the ARF Dashnaktsutyun statement on the gas supply system, methods on tariffs determination for large enterprises and individuals, etc. According to Tavadyan, the price for gas totals euro 304 per 1,000 cubic meters in Moldova, which is often brought as an example in Armenia, while Moldova is a transit country. He added that Armenia should consider indexation of pensions and salaries and their increase, so that the price for gas does not seem to be too high to the people. Chairman of the Association of Consumers of Armenia Armen Poghosyan and Head of the RA NA Committee on Economic Affairs Vardan Aivazyan agreed with Tavadyan. As Aivazyan noted, a working group will be formed in the parliament to deal with discussion of the country’s gas supply, specifically, collection of ArmRosgazprom’s charge for clients’ servicing.
