USD 1bln needed for production of one branded medicine June 8, 2011 - 12:59 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - GXP Center of Excellence Director, Editor-in-Chief of Pharma magazine Aram Ghazaryan said active development of the pharmaceutical field has started in Armenia since its independence. According to him, huge investments were made to the field during this period. Ghazaryan noted that 14 companies operate in Armenia, while their output is sold in both local and foreign markets, specifically, of the CIS countries. He added that the quality of locally produced medicines is in compliance with international standards. Almost all types of medicines are currently produced in Armenia, but USD 1bln is needed for production of one branded medicine, said Chairman the Union of Armenian Medicines Producers and Importers Samvel Zakaryan.
