Spayka enter into European markets

PanARMENIAN.Net - On July 15, Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan visited Spayka company, which is a regional leader in creation of infrastructure in the fields of transportation and agriculture.

As the company’s Projects Department Manager Karen Baghdasaryan told journalists, the company has implemented $40 mln. worth investments for the last two years in the transportation and agricultural field.

“We have the most high-capacity autopark in the region which is equipped with newest control and management technology. We are out of competition, as today Armenia provides door-to-door services,” he said. Spayka is the representative of VOLVO and CRONE companies in the region, and the cars are purchased directly from the plant.

As regards agriculture sphere, the company delivers fresh products abroad and occupies firm positions at CIS markets, particularly, in Russia, and there are plans to enter into European markets.

Presently the main objective of the company is to be more represented in the Armenian provinces.

Currently, the company employs 450 people, against 65 in 2010, and it is planned to raise the number by the same period of 2012 three times that is to 1500 employees. The company also intends to set a hothouse economy, which by 2012 will reach 34 hectares; now they use 6 hectares.

The company representative noted that Spayka purchased 1500 tons of apricots at the price AMD 600-650 per 1 kg, 300 tons of sweet cherry at the price AMD 600-700 per 1 kg. The company collaborates with farmers from Ararat, Armavir and Aragatsotn provinces, and they plan cooperation with Tavush province as well.

The company also plans purchase of 8 000 tons of grape. Fruit and vegetables are transported in polyfoam boxes, which absorb moisture thus preserving good marketable condition of food products.

Touching upon transportation cost, the company representative stressed that it rose by 10-15% in connection with world fuel prices. For example, transportation from Yerevan to Moscow amounts to $5000-$5500, and if the car is equipped with refrigerating system the cost will total $6500-$7000.
