VivaCell-MTS to invest $55mln in 2011 in 4G network expansion

PanARMENIAN.Net - VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian said that the company’s investments in 4G/LTE (Long Term Evolution) network creation have already amounted to $7.5mln.

The company intends to invest $55mln for the network expansion in 2011, Yirikian told journalists during the ceremony of 4G/LTE network launch.

“Today we can state that Armenia has become the leader in the field of telecommunications in the region. None of neighboring countries has such developed technologies,” he said.

Yirikian also said that during the test period from December 20, 2010, up to the end of March 2011, 4G network will be free of charge for the company’s selected clients.

Meanwhile, VivaCell-MTS will define tariffs for the product prior to the beginning of April 2011, when the network will be available for wide masses. According to Yirikian, the tariffs will not be higher compared to those for the previous generation - 3G.
