Access to the website was blocked for a number of hours in the morning. RedHack announced the attack on its official Twitter account, saying it was a response to events during the Confederation of Public Laborers Unions (KESK) rally on the previous day, as well as to the mounting pressure on the group by the media and the police. The group claimed that over 280 websites affiliated with police forces had been blocked during the attack, Hurriyet Daily News reported.
