Astana hosts meeting of CIS Foreign Ministers’ CouncilApril 6, 2012 - 17:54 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On Friday, April 6, the Kazakh capital of Astana has hosted a regular meeting of the Council of CIS Foreign Ministers, with representatives of all eleven CIS states present, Trend reported. The foreign ministers discussed a wide range of issues related to integration cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, in the field of security, and in other areas of cooperation. In particular, they discussed the progress of the multi-tiered plan of ministerial consultations within the CIS in 2011 and approved the plan for 2012. In the current year, it is expected to continue to exchange views on Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian security, countering new threats and challenges, and CIS interaction with regional and international organizations. The meeting also approved the draft documents to be submitted for consideration by the Council of CIS Heads of State. The next meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs will be held in early November in Ashgabat on the eve of the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State.
