According to Fars News Agency, a report by the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University said the strongest quake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale jolted an area near the city of Ahl. The seismological network of the Tehran University registered the quake at 02:10 am local time (2140 GMT Thursday night), the report said. There are yet no reports on the number of possible casualties or damage to properties by the quake.
