Turkey has no plans to reintroduce visa regime with Azerbaijan - diplomat

PanARMENIAN.Net - Cultural Affairs Counselor in Baku’s Turkish Embassy said Azeri citizens shouldn’t worry over the possibility of visa regime reintroduction for travel to Turkey.“No visa restrictions will be imposed on Azeri citizens,” 1news.az quoted Seyit Ahmet Arslan as saying.

According to Turkish media reports, in case of successful Turkey-EU visa-free regime talks, the official Ankara will have to impose visa regime on non-EU countries. “We’re actually negotiating the abolition of visa regime with EU states; however, I believe, the talks won’t affect Turkey’s special ties with Azerbaijan,” the embassy official said.

On August 1, 2007 Turkey unilaterally abolished visa regime with Azerbaijan, with official Ankara expecting a return step from Baku, the diplomat said.
