V. MANUKIAN SAYS ARMENIA MORE MATURE TO BUILD DEMOCRATIC AND DEVELOPED STATE THAN GEORGIA

PanARMENIAN.Net - "The whole world came to perceive Georgia as the regional center of democracy. This fact can be considered the most significant outcome of the "rose revolution". However in the past everything was just the opposite. In my opinion Armenian people are more mature to build a democratic and developed state than the Georgian. Not because we are better but because of historical circumstances", former Armenian Prime Minister, opposition presidential contender at the elections of 1996 Vazgen Manukian stated when commenting on the first anniversary of the "rose revolution" in Georgia in his interview with Aravot Armenian newspaper. In the words of the Armenian politician, Saakashvili has two ways to choose: "either he will think that the future of his country depends on him only and Georgia will again become a non-democratic state or he will restrict his own power and change the constitution thus balancing the branches of power".
