Armenia posts 10,2% growth in gross agricultural production Jan-July 2012August 24, 2012 - 21:56 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Gross agricultural production totaled AMD 291,5 bln in Jan-July 2012, increasing by 10,2% as compared to the same period of 2011, Agriculture Minister said. As Sergo Karapetyan told a press conference, over 20% and 2 % growth was recorded in crop and livestock sectors respectively. “The agriculture sector plays an important role in shaping the country’s GDP. If the share of agriculture in GDP totaled 17% in 2010, already in 2011 it grossed 20.2%,” he said, stressing the importance of agriculture sector in boosting exports. Minister Karapetyan further noted that the export volume grew by 13% in January-July 2012, with 55,7% growth reported in exports of agricultural products.
