EU Delegation to participate in "Let's do it! Armenia" clean-up eventSeptember 13, 2012 - 11:38 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On September 15, the EU Delegation to Armenia will participate in the environmental clean-up event "Let's do it! Armenia". The event is organized by the Young Biologists Association of Armenia, and aims to be the biggest Panarmenian volunteer movement, under the slogan "Armenia without garbage". Twelve volunteer EU Delegation staff and their children are joining the initiative. They aim to clean up the area of Frik street, near the Delegation, and sort the rubbish collected. The Delegation is happy to contribute modestly to a cleaner Armenia. Protection of the environment is a priority policy for the EU. The basis of the worldwide movement “Let's Do It!” was the big cleanup organized in Estonia in 2008, during which more than 50 000 volunteers were able to clean up 10 000 tons of waste from Estonia. This event set an example for other countries: Latvia-more than 60 000 people, Lithuania - more than 110 000 people, Slovenia - more than 246 000 people. Hundreds of authoritative organizations have already joined the campaign and are going to clean their country from waste with the support of millions of volunteers. In 2012 Armenia also has joined this ecological movement. The official representative of “Let’s do it” movement in Armenia is Young Biologists Association NGO.
