RUSSIAN DEFENSE ENTERPRISES INTERSTED IN SUPPLIES FROM ARMENIA

PanARMENIAN.Net - At a meeting in Moscow May 13-15, 2004 the Presidents of Russia and Armenia Vladimir Putin and Robert Kocharian confirmed that Russia and Armenia are strategic partners and allies and intend to further develop economic cooperation. It was stated by Russian Minister of Energy Victor Khristenko, the Ministry of Energy of Russia reported. In the Minister's words, special attention should be paid to the restoration and sustaining of previous ties and mutually favorable partnership between the Russian and Armenian defense and industrial enterprises. Traditionally the defense enterprises of Armenia specialized in producing radio and electric items and equipment, which were consumed by air, space, ammunition, shipbuilding, radio and arms industries of Russia, V. Khristenko noted. At present Russian defense enterprises are interested in supplies of production, necessary to produce Su planes, Mi helicopters, anti-aircraft missile complexes, antitank managed reactive shells, patrol ships and air cushion ships and other types of arms and military equipment, he added.
