Tsarukyan demands customs chief’s post, paper says

PanARMENIAN.Net - According to Zhamanak daily, Prosperous Armenia leader Gagik Tsarukyan met recently with President Serzh Sargsyan.

This time Tsarukyan demanded the post of the customs chief in exchange for backing Sargsyan at the upcoming presidential race.

“Rumors circulate that Tsarukyan - Sargsyan preliminary agreement has been reached, with the authorities willing to protract the current situation to stave off the opposition’s decisive steps. If Armenian National Congress (ANC) leader Levon Ter-Petrossian announces decision to run for president, Tsarukyan is likely to follow his suit to win opposition votes. However, Prosperous Armenia leader will resolve to endorse Sargsyan, if ANC head nominates another candidate,” the paper says.
