Brother of Syrian parliament speaker killed in Damascus

PanARMENIAN.Net - Dr. Mohammad Osama al-Laham, the brother of Syria’s People's Assembly's Speaker, was assassinated in a neighborhood of Damascus, Tuesday, Nov 6, according to state-run SANA news agency.

A source said al-Laham was shot dead in his car while he was on his way to work.

It was the latest in a wave of assassinations targeting Syrian officials, army officers and other prominent supporters of President Bashar Assad's regime. Four of the president's top security aides were killed in a rebel bombing of state security headquarters in Damascus on July 18.
