Paper: ex-PM Hrant Bagratyan to run for president?

PanARMENIAN.Net - According to 168 Zham daily, former Prime Minister, Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc member Hrant Bagratyan aims to enter presidential race.

“Bagratyan will refrain from announcing his candidacy only in case ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrossian resolves to run for president,” sources close to the paper said.

However, the daily noted, Bagratyan, who doesn't support the idea of cooperation with Prosperous Armenia, won’t abandon his intention were Levon Zurabyan or Prosperous Armenia leader Gagik Tsarukyan to be nominated.

“Bagratyan's announcing his candidacy may lead to a final split in ANC. The ex-Prime Minister refuses to publicly comment on the subject, however, openly announcing his intention in the company of his MP colleagues,” the daily said.
