Armenian President meets U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Thomas O. Melia.

President Sargsyan hailed the development of Armenian-U.S. ties, noting that similar meetings enable to discuss issues of mutual interest.

He further expressed gratitude for the U.S. active involvement in Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement in the framework of OSCE Minsk Group, as well as efforts aimed at preservation of peace and stability in the region.

Thomas O. Melia, in turn, highly assessed Armenia’s contribution to the implementation of the peacekeeping missions in Afghanistan and Kosovo.

The upcoming presidential polls in Armenia were further discussed, with the importance of democratic reforms in Armenia and efforts aimed at ensuring the rule of law stressed.
