Venezuelan minister says Chavez ‘slowly recovering’

PanARMENIAN.Net - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who underwent a fourth cancer surgery in Cuba, has been slowly recovering, the country’s information and communications minister said, according to RIA Novosti.

“72 hours after the operation, doctors note that the patient responds well to post-surgery treatment,” Ernesto Villegas said.

He explained that Chavez was prescribed special therapy to deal with bleeding that began during the surgery.

Chavez, 58, who has ruled Venezuela for 13 years, underwent three operations for cancer and four courses of chemotherapy in Cuba and Venezuela within a year. He agreed to the fourth surgery after recent tests had revealed malignant cells.

Bolivian President Evo Morales said he would pay “an urgent visit” to Venezuela on Saturday Moscow time (Friday in Bolivia) to show support for his counterpart and the people of Venezuela.
