OSKANIAN: OSCE MG NEW PROPOSALS NOT NECESSARY

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian remarked he did not expect anything new from the coming visit of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group to the region. The Minister stated it at a joint news conference with AGO Group leader, German permanent representative to the CE Roland Wegener today. In his words, all that is already available is on the table and new proposals are not necessary. Answering the question on the outcomes of his meeting with E. Mamedyarov in Brussels, the Minister said it was an offstage meeting. «I cannot say how long the meeting lasted exactly, 30 or 40 minutes, however not 4 hours and the point is not the duration,» the Minister said, adding the meeting was productive. When asked to comment on the Azeri President's statement that the participation in the talks with Armenia is already a concession by Azerbaijan, Mr. Oskanian noted, «I have not heard such things,» and added at once, «there is no sense in commenting on a statement like that.» When commenting on Mamedyarov's statement that after the Prague meeting the parties of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict have reached an agreement that in case the monitoring group under the auspices of the OSCE visits Nagorno Karabakh, Azerbaijan will not raise the issue in the UN. «And we hope Azerbaijan will keep its promise,» the Armenian FM added. In his turn Roland Wegener mentioned progress was made in the Karabakh settlement. However, he added that the parties have not come to an agreement on several issues. «We welcome Armenia's efforts to attain greater progress in the resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict that provide for further discussions between Armenian and Azeri FMs,» Roland Wegener said. «We are well informed about the conflict settlement process, at the same time we never violate information confidentiality,» he added.
