Pamuk: Turkey Has to Choose between «Peace» and «Nationalism»

PanARMENIAN.Net - «I censure EU stand over Turkey. I will leave Turkey if nationalism and Islamism rise in the country,» Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk said when presenting his new book Istanbul to German readers. In his words, if the EU keeps its current stand regarding Turkey, it will be responsible for development of nationalism among country citizens. «I consider it a regress. In case of radical nationalism, radical Islamism or military intervention into the civil life, I will leave Turkey and settle in some other country,» O. Pamuk remarked. He said he hoped to Turkey to become part of the EU. «I perceive theEU as a sign of «peace» and Turkey has to choose between «peace» and «nationalism». I hope Turkey will choose «peace», the Yerkir newspaper reported.
