RPA: people need strong authorities and strong opposition

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian authorities never sought to have a controllable opposition, spokesman of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) said. Asked if Heritage party leader Raffi Hovannisian’s position is preferable to that of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) leader Levon Ter-Petrossian, Eduard Sharmazanov said, “what is beneficial to the Armenian people, is the beneficial to the authorities.”

“Our society needs strong authorities and strong opposition to express and implement ideas important to people,” the spokesman said.
