Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem gets approval by Jordan King

Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Archbishop Nourhan Manougian, received a Royal Decree by King Abdullah II Ben Hussein The Hashemite King of Jordan, as an approval of His election as the 97th Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem and Jordan.

The Divan of the Holy See of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem announced that His Majesty King Abdullah II Ben Hussein, The Hashemite King of Jordan received in His Royal Palace, His Beatitude Archbishop Nourhan Manougian the newly elected Patriarch of Jerusalem to congratulate him and grant Him the Royal Decree issued earlier to approve His election as the 97th Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem having a jurisdiction over the Holy Land and Jordan.

His Beatitude was accompanied by the Grand Sacristan of the Patriarchate Archbishop Sevan Gharibian, the Patriarchal representative of Jordan Archbishop Vahan Topalian and Reverend Father Kegham Zakarian. The meeting was attended also by the Royal Protocol and Islamic Waqf representatives.

His Majesty congratulated His Beatitude upon his election as Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem, and stressed in his speech about preserving and protecting the Islamic and Christian Holy places of Jerusalem.

After the ceremony of granting the Royal Decree, His Beatitude thanked His Majesty asserting that he will exert his best efforts for the protection and upkeep of the Holy Places and the Armenian communities in Jerusalem, Palestine and Jordan.

The meeting ended with accolades and expectations for future meetings.
