Armenia and Albania to Sign Agreement on Parliamentary Cooperation

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian delegation lead by NA Speaker Artur Baghdassaryan met with President, Prime Minister and Speaker of Albania in the capital of Tirana, reported the Armenian NA Press Service. Albanian Parliament Chairwoman Jozefina Topalli told A. Baghdassaryan on the parliamentary election in Albania held in July 2005, which resulted in the Parliament electing the country President. She noted the importance of the fact that Albania conveyed BSEC PA presidency to Armenia. During its presidency Armenia will make a notable contribution to solution of regional issues, J. Topalli said. In A. Baghdassaryan's words, after the visit Deputy Friendship Groups will be formed in the Parliaments of Armenia and Albania. The parties arranged to sign agreements on interparliamentary cooperation. The interlocutors also noted the importance of official and working meetings, exchange of information and legislative experience.



During a meeting with Albanian President Alfred Moisiu matters of establishment and development of political relations were discussed. It was noted that cooperation in various fields in the current globalizing world paves way for development. The parties noted the need for political will, which facilitates development of trade and economic relations. The Albanian leader called the Armenian Speaker's visit a good stimulus for promotion of bilateral relations.



During a meeting with Albanian PM Sali Berisha problems of trade and economic relations were discussed. Expressing interest towards development of relations with the region and Armenia, the Albanian PM assured the geographic position and Albanian legislation provide sufficient ground for investments in tourism, energy, natural resources. Opportunities for paying mutual visits and organization of a business forum were discussed in the course of the meeting.
