Acting Deputy PM: Qatar Airways to boost competition in ArmeniaApril 29, 2013 - 18:19 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Acting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Territorial Administration of Armenia Armen Gevorgyan met on April 29 with ambassador of Qatar Ibrahim A.Rahman Al- Meghaiseeb (residence in Tehran), with head of the General Department of the Civil Aviation Artyom Movsesyan present. Intensification of trade and economic relations and expansion of cooperation were in the focus of the meeting, with an agreement reached to hold inter-parliamentary commission meeting in June. The two voiced readiness to foster the implementation of joint programs, noting the commission as an effective platform for the development of cooperation.
The acting minister attached importance to Qatar’s investments in Armenia, hailing collaboration in the fields of agriculture, industry, tourism and education as prospective. The envoy said Qatar’s delegation is expected to pay a working visit to Armenia in May to discuss cooperation in social sector.
An agreement envisaging the visit of the delegation of Qatar Civil Aviation to Yerevan was further reached. Mr. Gevorgyan noted that the operation of Qatar Airways will boost the quality of passenger service and competition in Armenia.
The establishment of embassies in both countries was mutually stressed as a contributing factor to bilateral relations, the ministry’s press service reported.
