Leonardo DiCaprio talks “The Great Gatsby” 3DApril 29, 2013 - 17:08 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Leonardo DiCaprio has discussed the use of 3D in The Great Gatsby, Digital Spy said. Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald's novel was filmed in 3D, and lead actor DiCaprio has suggested that the decision was made in order to create a more "theatrical" feel. "The whole idea of 3D was very interesting to me... the fact that Baz wanted to almost make it like a theater production," DiCaprio told Flicks and Bits. "We've seen 3D done in a lot of ways, and seen it for all of its spectacle and fantastic action sequences, but to use it in a dramatic context, it's very interesting. "Because then it does become like theater, then you actually feel the distance between characters. You feel the intensity that characters will have with one another." Fitzgerald's novel follows WW1 veteran Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) as he is drawn into the extravagant world of mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby (DiCaprio). Carey Mulligan, Isla Fisher and Joel Edgerton also star in The Great Gatsby, and Mulligan has admitted that she cried when she learned she had won the key role of Gatsby's one-time flame Daisy.
