Guluzade: Karabakh Talks - Imitation, in Which OSCE MG is Interested

PanARMENIAN.Net - There are no talks over settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, it is mere imitation, stated former advisor to Azeri ex-president Vafa Guluzade. He remarked that OSCE MG co-chairs are basically interested in imitation of the talks. "They do nothing and create an impression of talks," former advisor to Azeri ex-president said. "FMs and presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan had a number of meetings within various events. If there was something serious in it, the parties would not have waited for some events, but would have sent their delegations for talks," he said. Touching upon the latest statement of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Belgian FM Karel de Gucht that serious opportunities are available for solving the conflict, Guluzade said, "These are merely words."

Speaking of the possible deployment of peacekeepers in the conflict zone, Guluzade remarked the prospect is not real. "Since 1994 there is no single foreign military in the conflict zone and Azerbaijan and Armenia observe the cease-fire, no matter a good or a bad one. There is exchange of fire at times, but it is unavoidable," he remarked. "I believe neither Armenia, nor Azerbaijan will agree to deployment of foreign forces in the Karabakh conflict zone. As of stationing Russian military, we will not agree to it and neither will the US agree for Russia to come and occupy these regions," former advisor to Azeri ex-president said, reported RFE/RL.
