Penelope Cruz teased as first Spanish Bond girl in

PanARMENIAN.Net - A name of the strong contender for the role of Bond girl in "Bond 24" has surfaced. Spanish actress Penelope Cruz, who received recognition for her role in Tom Cruise-starring "Vanilla Sky", is rumored to have been approached and offered the coveted role. Turning 40 next April, she will be the first Spanish and the oldest it girl in Bond history if she eventually joins the film, AceShowbiz said.

Sources close to the production spill the beans of the casting news, saying, "The producers have tried to get Penelope before, but she has never been available because of other commitments. The discussions have been going on for some time and they are working out the contract details now."

As of now, Daniel Craig is set to reprise his iconic role in the upcoming Bond movie with Sam Mendes to likely reunite with him. Showbiz411 has claimed that producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have secured their favorite helmer of "Skyfall "after exhaustive negotiations."

The British filmmaker, who served behind the lens for Kevin Spacey's "American Beauty", is also said to be "most likely" set for "Bond 25".

Scribe John Logan, who wrote "Skyfall", will return to provide the screenplay for "Bond 24", which is eyeing a 2016 release.
