Lieberman says Abbas not interested in resuming peace talks

PanARMENIAN.Net - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was not intent on returning to peace negotiations with Israel, Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman Avigdor Lieberman said Wednesday, June 26 ahead of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry's arrival to the region, The Jerusalem Post reported.

At a gathering of Yisrael Beytenu youths, Liberman said Abbas was instead set to promote yet another move of defiance and incitement against Israel at the UN General Assembly in September.

"At the center of the move [Abbas] is preparing will be accusations against Israel that it does not want to achieve peace, additional hate speech as in previous assemblies and petitions to be admitted to various UN agencies and as a permanent member state," the Yisrael Beytenu leader postulated.

He added that, "In order to enable this process [Abbas] knows that he must initially take several moves to appear as if he desires peace in order to blame Israel [for its failure]".
