"Avengers: Age of Ultron" unveils news details ahead of Comic-Con

PanARMENIAN.Net - After giving the first look at the main baddie, "Avengers: Age of Ultron" unveils some spoilery tidbits ahead of the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con. The newest updates courtesy of Entertainment Weekly reveal the backstory of Ultron and whether Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are friends or foes to the Earth's Mighties Heroes, AceShowbiz said.

While Ultron was created by Dr. Hank Pym (the first Ant-Man) in the comic books, [SPOILER ALERT!] the menacing robot was the handiwork of Tony Stark in the upcoming film. Robert Downey Jr.'s character creates a new robot injected with his personality to lead the Iron Legion and help the Avengers protect the world.

Ultron played by James Spader does have some of Stark's traits, but none of his humanity. He sees humans as the source of all problems so he sets out to eliminate them all. "It's not the good version that could've come from [Stark's] intellect and personality," said Chris Hemsworth who reprises his role as Thor. "It's the bad son."

Like his creator, Ultron later makes his own creation, the Vision, a synthetic, superpowered human, "to show he has the power to create life too." This time around, Vision's origin mirrors the comics. Ultron's brainchild is portrayed by Paul Bettany who voiced J.A.R.V.I.S., Stark's artificial intelligence, in the previous Marvel films.

Director Joss Whedon, meanwhile, talked about the other new characters Quicksilver (Aaron Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). "They're on Team Ultron, which makes things really hard for the Avengers because all of sudden they're dealing with powers that they're not used to," the helmer opened up.

"With the [first] Avengers, everybody pretty much had the power of being able to punch somebody. And now we have a woman who can get inside your head and move objects, and a boy that can move faster than anything, and a robot [Ultron] who can self-replicate and is out of his mind. So all of sudden, it's a darker, weirder, tougher world that they're living in."

Johnson described the twins, "They're gypsies in a way. They're romani. They're sort of like travelers...There's a lot of clashing. He's quick tempered. He gets agitated. He's impatient. But he's super protective. They're very yin-and-yang in that twin sense. In his power, he's physical and she's psychological. My character is very much on the frontline, but he can be quite emotional. You see this beautiful tenderness between them."

Olsen, meanwhile, said of her character, "The reason she's so special is because she has such a vast amount of knowledge that she's unable to learn how to control it. No one taught her how to control it properly. So it gets the best of her. It's not that she's mentally insane, it's just that she's just overly stimulated. And she can connect to this world and parallel worlds at the same time, and parallel times."
