Yerevan to demand assessment of Azeri-captured villager’s deathOctober 15, 2014 - 15:37 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The body of Karen Petrosyan, who died in Azeri captivity, will undergo forensic examination, with the issue given key priority on the Defense Ministry agenda, Zham.am said. According to Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, upon completion of the examination, Armenia will apply to international organizations to demand adequate assessment of the issue. On Oct 10, Baku handed over the body of Karen Petrosyan to Armenia. The handover was conducted by the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing People and the Defense Ministry through the International Committee of the Red Cross in Bala Jafarli village of Gazakh region. Petrosyan ‘died suddenly’ in Baku, after what Azerbaijan said was a cardiovascular collapse. A resident of Armenian border village of Chinari (Tavush province), the 31-year-old was captured in early August. Being not sober, he presumably lost his way and crossed the border when searching for wood. According to some Armenian media reports, Petrosyan often drank to excess. Azerbaijan branded Petrosyan, who can hardly read and write, a saboteur. Top stories Six total incidents have burned 19 old-growth trees.
