Amazon takes Prime Air drones to Canada for testingMarch 30, 2015 - 20:04 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Amazon has begun testing its Prime Air drones in Canada due to legislation restricting trials in the US, according to Digital Spy. The US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) recently relaxed its ban on the octocopters but imposed strict conditions on their commercial use. The FAA's updated regulations state that drones can only be flown during daylight hours at 400 feet or below, and must remaining in sight of a pilot. Amazon's Prime Air drones are designed to carry packages weighing up to 20kg to customers within 30 minutes of an order being placed. The firm has been test flying them over Canada for several months now with a former NASA astronaut lending his expertise to the project, reports The Guardian. The online retailer is also said to have established a base in Wales so Prime Air trials can be carried out in Europe.
