2 Armenian contract servicemen killed by Azeri troopsSeptember 5, 2015 - 10:22 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Two Armenian contract soldiers of Nagorno Karabakh Defense Army, Marat Khachanian and Arman Stepanyan were deadly wounded in a combat mission by Azeri armed forces on Friday, September 4, at around 5:00 p.m., press office of NKR Defense Ministry reports. An investigation into the details of the incident is underway. According to NKR Defense Army, 100 ceasefire violations by Azeri armed forces were registered on the evening and night of September 3, with around 1800 shots fired from various caliber weapons, including 60-, 82-mm mortars, infantry support guns and artillery weapons. The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan broke out as result of the ethnic cleansing launched by the Azeri authorities in the final years of the Soviet Union. The Karabakh War was fought from 1991 (when the Nagorno Karabakh Republic was proclaimed) to 1994 (when a ceasefire was sealed by Armenia, NKR and Azerbaijan). Most of Nagorno Karabakh and a security zone consisting of 7 regions are now under control of NKR defense army.
