David Gilmour's “Rattle That Lock” tops UK album chart

PanARMENIAN.Net - David Gilmour's Rattle That Lock has beaten Lana Del Rey's Honeymoon to top the UK album chart, Digital Spy reports.

The Pink Floyd star scores his second-ever solo chart-topper, finishing 20,000 copies ahead of second-place finisher Del Rey.

"It's thrilling to get a Number 1 album. We all want to hit the top spot, however long we've been at it. I'm delighted," Gilmour told the Official Charts Company.

"I owe a debt of thanks to Polly Samson, for writing lyrics on four Number 1 albums, The Division Bell, On an Island, The Endless River, and now Rattle That Lock, and also to Phil Manzanera, my co-producer on the last three albums.

"I shall enjoy celebrating this good news by playing at The Royal Albert Hall tonight."

Gilmour last reached the number one slot with Pink Floyd's The Endless River in November 2014.

Del Rey's second-place finish for Honeymoon gives her a third top five UK album overall.

Rounding out the top five are Jess Glynne's I Cry When I Laugh, Sir Cliff Richard's retrospective 75 At 75 and Stereophonics' Keep the Village Alive.

Following closely on their heels is Drake and Future's surprise mixtape What a Time to Be Alive at number six, while Keith Richards's solo Crosseyed Heart debuts at seven.

Ryan Adams's highly-anticipated cover of 1989 hits number 19 in its first week on the chart.

Also hanging around the albums Top 40 are Shinedown's Threat to Survival at 13, Carly Rae Jepsen's E•MO•TION at 21 and Chris Cornell's Higher Truth at 37.
