YouTube “to remove content after Red deal”

PanARMENIAN.Net - YouTube has said it will remove all content from artists who don't sign a new Red subscription deal, Digital Spy reports.

The company announced the major plans for an ad-free subscription video streaming service earlier this week, and creators will now have to agree to new terms if they want to keep their videos on YouTube.

As TechCrunch reports, "partner" creators will have their videos removed from public view on the site if they do not sign a new revenue share deal.

However, YouTube's Chief Business Officer Robert Kyncl spoke at today's YouTube Red launch event to confirm that 99% of content will still be available following the new arrangement.

YouTube previously revealed that Red will set you back $9.99 per month, but that rises to $12.99 if customers sign up through iOS after Apple takes its cut.

It was also recently announced that a new YouTube Music app has been created in an attempt to rival Spotify and Apple Music, while the service also covers YouTube Gaming.

YouTube Original Series and Movies will be available next year through YouTube Red and will include work from the likes of PewDiePie and The Fine Brothers.

Of course, not everyone is happy about YouTube Red and there's already a petition against the service, calling it out for "destroying a community".

YouTube Red launches in the U.S. on October 28 with a global release to follow.
